KATAHDIN NSIP REPORTS
There are three reports:
NSIP Elites, Young Ram Trait Leaders, and Percentile ReportsNSIP Elites Report is a list of proven rams that are ranked according to the Katahdin Index or Ewe Productivity Trait. Not all rams on this list are “balanced” for all traits measured. In addition, the list may include animals that are no longer active due to age, death or having been sold to a non-participating flock.Young Ram Trait Leaders report lists young rams that rank high according to a particular trait. Keep in mind that most are “pedigree EBVs”, meaning the animals’ EBVs are the average of his parents’ EBVs. A young ram is not considered to have accurate EBVs until he has progeny in the NSIP system. The more progeny he has, the more accurate his EBVs will be. Not all young rams on this list are suitable breeders and some, due to defects or poor conformation, are in the freezer!
Percentile Reports gives the range of measurements, as a percentage, for each trait based on data submitted by participating flocks. An animal that is considered “average” for a particular trait will have EBVs at or close to the 50th percentile.
These reports are updated periodically.
